We are excited to share with you Why Is It So Well?, an exhibition of experimental outputs. Artists from the graduate course, Photography Critique Community at Ohio University, worked collaboratively to address the question, "Can we teach ourselves as a generative mode of learning, a condition for freedom, and a means of survival in resistance to various power structures?" How can we use our practices to reveal the possibility of another meaning to life? How do we address what is truly urgent today? How do we learn from the artwork and images we produce?

The artwork in this exhibition was generated quickly, sometimes collaboratively, sometimes as gifts. It is not precious. Artists built their own collective syllabus and worked through a series of experimental exercises to pose questions, take risks, locate new sources of learning in their practices, and work within the context of a community space.

Co-organized by CPAC Executive Director and Visiting Artist in Photography + Integrated Media at OU, Elisa Smith.
