Title: The Ohio Star

Artist: Allison Backovski

The Ohio Star Print is a traditional quilt pattern originally designed in Oberlin, Ohio in the mid-1800’s. This piece was inspired by that design and letterpress printed on a Vandercook 4T press using hand-cut geometric pieces locked up to resemble the antique pattern.

This Ohio Star is part of an edition of prints created to raise funds to build a yardage screen printing table at CPAC.

This yardage printing table will be the first available to the public in Columbus. The plans we are using for the yardage printing table allow for five yards of fabric to be printed at a time with precise registration. Its addition to our studio will enable us to expand our offerings to local artists who are interested in creating their own hand-printed textiles for fun, for artwork, or for creating hand-made goods. The table will also provide an opportunity for us to host a variety of new workshops, engaging with the maker community in new ways, as well as with those in our community who have not had exposure to these unique processes.

By purchasing this print you are contributing directly to the funding of this table project. Follow us on Instagram, @columbusprintedarts, and Facebook for updates on the project!
