Over 85% of every photograph taken this year will have been made with a smartphone. We use them to promote products and businesses, to capture candid personal moments, and for social media. With ever-increasing picture quality, tons of manual settings, and apps that can provide endless creative options, Smartphone photography has become a serious platform for advertisers and bloggers as well as a highly expressive tool. This Smartphone Photography workshop is a great fit for someone who relies on their cell phone photography for their business and wants to set their images apart, or for anyone looking to elevate their everyday shots. No previous knowledge of camera or phone functions is necessary. Topics explored include the various manual camera settings available on phones today, unique compositional approaches, working with available light and phone flash, and editing applications that can improve or customize the look of your images.
During this workshop we have the exciting opportunity to practice photographing in various parts of the historic Seagraves Fire Engine and Apparatus Manufacturing Plant, now known as The Fort and home of Columbus Printed Arts Center.
Please bring your phone and any necessary accessories, a pencil and notebook, as well as appropriate attire for exploring non climate-controlled parts of the building complex.
