Print Fellowship Program
Columbus Printed Arts Center is thrilled to announce the Print Fellowship Program; a competitive professional program for active artists to gain unlimited access to studio resources, grow their portfolio and professional networks, and make a meaningful contribution to the center and community.
The Print Fellowship Program is derived from residency, visiting artist, studio monitor, and member-volunteer methodologies that many community art studios employ to both maintain their studios and create unique professional or artistic development opportunities for local artists. Fellows will be selected through an application process three times per year. We will be accepting up to six applicants per cycle. Fellows will be given 24-7 access to the print studios and an Artist Membership for one year, in exchange for fulfilling the responsibilities outlined below. There is no fee to apply.
Each Fellow will be required to fulfill the following requirements during their session:
• Commit to four-month fellowship program and oversee the studios for a minimum of 12 hours per week. This includes maintaining a safe working environment, managing Artist Member studio hours, maintaining studio inventories and supplies, and being available to Artist Members working in the studios to answer questions and troubleshoot.
• Give an artist talk AND/OR teach a class or workshop AND/OR work with an Apprentice some time during the session. Fellows will work with CPAC staff to develop and coordinate exhibition, lecture, or education programs.
• Display artworks created during fellowship at the end of the session. We would love to encourage artists to donate an artwork created during the fellowship for our archives, but this is not a requirement.
Fellows are welcomed and encouraged to be involved beyond these requirements, and may volunteer to contribute to other aspects of the organization such as assisting with special events, improving the studios, or providing general administrative support. This is designed as an opportunity for artists to customize their experience based on individual and professional goals. Our objective is to make CPAC’s studios even more accessible to serious practitioners, to provide a platform for promoting the practices of local emerging artists, and to invite new perspectives and approaches to fulfilling our organizational mission.
There are no restrictions or requirements regarding the type of work a Fellow may create during their program session. We only ask that proposals consider how to make use of the resources we supply in this studio. Applicants are encouraged to imagine creative and non-traditional approaches to print-making and to think about their term as a Fellow as a dedicated time to intensively investigate their practice and modes of making.
To apply, please submit in one PDF document a CV, artist statement describing your interests and how you plan to use CPAC’s studios, and up to ten images of work.
Deadline to apply for the 2019 Summer Print Fellowship session is May 1, 2019, 11:59PM.
